Self-awareness - should it be my goal?

Updated: Jul 14, 2020

As most of the us on Earth, I have talked to people with different background, learnt about different worldviews and realized there is an enourmous amount of opinions. The funniest part? You cannot agree to all of them, no matter how hard you try. What's more - you don't need to.

Here is a big difference between judgement and 'I tried-to-understand-him' approach. Perceiving somebody's opinion through the prism of your own values is mostly a bad thing. Not because of that no one is perfect and your values may be bad - it cannot be. The thing is, there are no right or wrong values and principles in life. Therefore, accepting different opinion is a key to success.

My point is, you may not be completely switching to somebody else's values and opinions. By accepting I mean letting this another person to have his own views, without being eager to persuade him agree with you opinion. By not saying 'yes, I think the same' you can definitely survive!

Another story would be in case you really feel the need in those words. Why? What benefits does it give you in case somebody agrees with you?

Perhaps you are not feeling confident if somebody has his own views? Or you are afraid of that you will get criticised? The right answer is in you. It is important that you find it.

That is why self-awareness is important. Each of us is way happier, satisfied with life, more efficient and productive in case we know the following:

- Our own needs. Note, here we are talking about 'I want' and 'I need', not 'They said that I need...'.

- Our own goals (based on interests, needs and wishes)

- Our own emotions and the roots of them. Is it anger that you felt yesterday? Or was it just sadness? That's quite a topic, we will definitely cover it in this blog!

So, self-awareness is indeed something we all need to feel ourselves 'here and now', enjoy every single moment and be happy with what we have, also being able to set challenging goals and go for them!

Keep that in mind and get in touch to discuss that further!
